開催概要

本セミナーでは、BioJapan当日の交流促進を図ることを目的として、事前に来日企業等の各社に、それぞれの取り組みをご紹介いただきます。

Ogibiotech社は、昨年のBioJapan 2025にもご参加いただきましたが、英国・エディンバラ発のバイオテック企業で、微生物培養を自動化・高度化する小型モジュール型バイオリアクター「OGI3」を開発しています。4つの独立した培養系で、温度、撹拌、光学密度などをリアルタイムに制御・測定し、微生物研究の効率化と再現性向上を実現。合成生物学やバイオものづくりにおける実験・データ取得の高速化に貢献しています。

演題名 ：Accelerating Microbial Process Development with Ogi3: An Automated Bench-Scale Platform for High-Throughput Growth Characterisation and Precision Fermentation

要旨 ：

Understanding and controlling microbial growth is essential for developing new bioprocesses, products, and strains. But early-stage research often relies on shake flasks, which can be time-consuming, labour-intensive, and difficult to scale.

This presentation introduces Ogi3 , an automated microbial cultivation platform designed to improve productivity in early-stage research and development. Operating at just 15 mL per culture, Ogi3 allows researchers to run multiple controlled experiments in parallel while automatically monitoring and managing growth conditions.

For scientists using shake flasks, Ogi3 automates routine cultivation and measurement tasks, enabling more experiments to be completed in less time. For researchers working in precision fermentation, Ogi3 provides scale-up relevant process control at a small scale, allowing key decisions to be made before moving to larger bioreactors.

By reducing manual work, media consumption, and experimental timelines, Ogi3 helps researchers generate high-quality data faster and more efficiently. The presentation will highlight how automated small-scale cultivation can accelerate strain screening, media optimisation, and process development while reducing the cost and resources required for experimentation.
